February is American Heart Month!
This February, we will be celebrating the 57th consecutive American Heart Month! American Heart month, an entire month dedicated to raising heart health awareness, was first issued in a proclamation by President Lyndon B. Johnson, in 1964. Having experienced his own issues with his heart health, President Johnson hoped to spread awareness and educate his citizens on the importance of heart health and ways Americans could maintain their own heart health.
How are you going to celebrate American Heart Month? Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can directly contribute to your heart health. We’ve listed a few ways you can stay healthy in your day-to-day life below!
- Stay active! Even just 30 minutes of daily exercise can be beneficial for your heart health. Hit the gym, play your favorite sport, or go on a walk with your friends or family.
- Maintain a healthy diet. Eat healthy! Research delicious, healthy new dishes to try. Make goals for yourself! Perhaps increase your overall fruit and vegetable intake. A few heart healthy recipe ideas are linked below.
